These two young gorillas faced hard times in 2024, but things are looking up!
It’s been a difficult year for Karame and Mubyeyi. After tragically losing their family and spending much of the year under the care of one solitary silverback and then another, there has now been yet another dramatic twist in the story (Hint: it’s a good one!).

Using simple yet effective tools and techniques, Dian Fossey began groundbreaking research on the mountain gorillas in Rwanda. Fast forward to today and we are not only carrying on her legacy, but have expanded our impact by utilizing the latest in technology. From acoustic monitoring to photogrammetry, to fecal analysis, we are all hands on deck to protect these amazing animals (or should we say, “all hands on tech”?).
